Hi, I have been flying various types of kites for many years and want to start kite surfing. I have decided on a Naish Boxer but would like advise on the size. I'm 1.85 mtrs tall and 88kg. Any ideas?

Hi Martin, It depends on the strength of the wind in your area.

hi, martin

first of all, go ahead to kite-school, in order to avoid injury. In the course, you'll be adviced about the size and kind of kite you need for initiate. I've started with 11m Toro North kite, and is good for winds between 10-20 knots (i'm spanish). But, maybe you need 12-14 meters for the same conditions (my weight is 58Kg).

regards,

Hey Martin,

I'm about your size. I have the 12 and 15 Boxers. The only other size I would want would be a 9 or 10, but here in S. Florida, with my size, it would only get occassional use.

I agree with one post about lessons. Once you get the lessons, ask your instructor about sizes and wind ranges. Beware tho, of schools who push a certain brand of kite. They might be getting a kickback. Check out what sizes the crowd at your spot are using and what brands. Knowing kiters, they will be more than glad to help you out. They might also give their opinions as to what kites to avoid. You'll be spending a lot of cash, so a little research will go a long way.

Good luck
