Just got a look at this new release from Bic. Got a price quote for 909$, seems pretty tempting. 94cm. wide, 22 lbs.BUT it has a trimbox and I don't know if this was a good choice for really big fins. My intention is to race formula within two years. So I want a board to train on and then buy something new when its time to race.I fear that by buying the latest and greatest raceboard now, that it will be obsolete by then. My life is to full of B.S. right now to consider racing. Any thoughts on this board?

I'd be curious what they will warranty for fin box damage. That ought to tell you about the trim box and bigger fins versus what they supply with the board. I've never noticed but do they even make those monster fins for anything other than the 2 Tuttle standards?

I wouldn't wory too much. I hit a reef a few months back with my techno. I lost my fin, but the box remained totally intact an un damaged. The ferule the bolt conenects to cracked through the fins base leaving only the bolt and ferule in the base. Now the way I see it, to replace the fin was minimal cost compared to trashing the fin box and tail of the board. If it was a stronger box I'd hate to think what would have happened.

I sail my Techno with fins up to 62cm and have had absolutely no problem with the fin box. Michael
