Last Nov. I was napping at the Ego Beach in Hatteras awaiting wind the first time I heard it, then in April I was doing the exact same thing and heard it again, and again, and again.

What I kept hearing was this a middle age fellow, sometimes with an elderly gentleman, walking around saying 'I haven't sailed in a while, but I've still got an old Hyper-Tech....(pause)....you know what they say about HyperTech....(pause).....Catch a Rail, Eat a sail....(pause).....explosive laughter, his of couse (and my wierd looks).

Sort of funny, but sort of annoying at the same time. It is amazing what you hear/see sitting around that parking lot.

I don't understand. Have you never caught a rail and eaten a sail on ANY 'razor-railed race board'? Or ridden one of those Hypertechs (they've 'bought many a dentist his first Beemer'? It's a shock to be maxed out in a WFO reach one instant, then one perceived millisecond later be sliding up your sail, under the boom, feeling every batten from the foot to the tip top slap your butt cheeks, thanking GOD your hook disengaged.

Hyper-tech, one of my all time favorite boards. Talk about hang time, I wish they were still making them.

Boy did I love my 9' HyperTech - I don't think I ever completed a carving jibe on it, but that thing was fassssst on flat water. And what acceleration.

I was still pretty much still pre-teen in the Hypertech days, but this guy totally cracks me up. He was pretty much saying it to everyone, laughing harder every time. It seems somewhat less funny now knowing that there is actually some truth behind his statements. I went through a few day spell of making my own catch sayings as well....Vulcan like MacCauley Culkin, Throw a loop, eat some poop, and so on and so forth.
