Changing Fin Base

I have a Curtis G-10 Cr-15 that was made for a Bic Power Trim Base. Is there any way to modify the base so it will fit a Tuttle Box? I bought the fin for a regatta using Technos, but all my bigger boards have Tuttle boxes. I know that some fins are made so you can bolt an adapter plate onto it, but I have never seen anyone grind down a fin where the base and the fin are all one piece.

I think finworks makes an adapter so you can change to a Tuttle box or any other box for that matter. But with a trim box it won't be easy. The adapter comes with a template and you will need to carefully grind down the trimbox base down to size to fit into the adapter. I think Murrays.com will have these

I do not recommend using any adaptors for this application. You are looking at breakage with this fin.

It is possible to mold a new base with reasonable results, as we have molds, but not in deep tuttle.

I lack someone to do this work now as it is very time consuming and the results cannot be guaranteeed.

There are lots of Techno and Tiga 293, etc owners on this newsgroup. I suggest upgrading the stock fin on all these boards. Maybe someone reading this can contact you and you could sell it to them. By the way these designs have won virtually all national titles on the Techno. they are fun

Thanks Bill. Well, at least I tried. ANyone interested in a G-10 CR-15 52 cm fin with a trim box base? It has been used in 2 regattas- 2000 Techno Nationals, where it won First in Masters Division, and the 2001 Hiho, where it did not win first place. It has a small nick or two in the trailing edge which can be easily sanded out, but is otherwise in perfect condition.

This makes a wonderful upgrade to the stcok 46 cm Techno fin. contact
