Sounds like something I'd want, but I'm wondering about slippage on my two PowerEx's with the smaller diameter and less (no?) room for adjustment.

My two PowerEx skinnys have slightly different diameters:

1.505 for the new one. 1.52 for the old (year 2000) one.

See my post on Windsurfing Hawaii booms...they don't care what diameter the mast is...skinny to fatty...no slippage.

As some may have noticed in the past, I part ways with Wardog on this one. I hate the Windsurf Hawaii front end, unless there has been a redesign in the last two years that I'm not aware of. My buddy who accompanied me to PSC recently with his 2 year old WH PowerTaper booms had major slippage problems, the same problems I had when I was using them. Yeah, you can crank the line down in the cleat again after clamping them, but that's a pain in the patootie.

I much prefer the Chinook and Hawaiian Proline (and the old Dynafiber) front ends. Used with the Powerex skinny adapter on a skinny is da kine imho. No cranking after clamping.

Btw, no skin off the 'dog's nose. He sells both the adapter and the Hawaiian Proline booms at Surfingsports (and I have no pecuniary interest in the transaction).

Lates...

Bro, There has been a MAJOR redesign in the WH front end! http://www.surfingsports.com/pimages/ wh_carbon_makai_head.jpg It's the first boom in the industry that will rig on a conventional size mast or an RDM (skinny) mast without any adapter! The special 2 door front boom end fits any size mast easily, quickly, and securely...no slippage...no shims needed...I'll say it again...the mast cradle doesn't care what the diameter of the mast is...it adjusts through the whole range.

The new Gulftech Glory series carbon booms grip a regular, or a skinny, or anything in between, and they are stiffer than Chinook, and cost less.

Yes, I work for Gulftech, but it appears you need to know this info to make a truly informed decision...

If you want more info, e-mail me, or call 541-386-3861 and ask for Will.

RE/

I checked the GulfTech web site and then called the contact number. After talking to whoever answered and looking at the web site, I got the impression that GulfTech had gone under and residual inventory had been bough up by somebody else.

Sounds like I'm wrong....but I'd guess that the web site *is* a significant presence to people who windsurf and it sure doesn't give a very good impression.

I was under the impression that Gulftech now 'belongs to' Windmall (American Windsurfer)... could be wrong though.

We're in the process of installing a new server. Everything takes time. We DO have booms, though, and they're great, I sold 2 yesterday to die-hard Chinookers no less...
