CO2 vs. Aero

Hi,

I am new to the sport and want to by my first kite. I am an experienced windsurfer and know what i will get into this sport heavily. I want a four line kite either the Naish Aero or the Cabrinha CO2. Can anyone tell me the difference, if any exists.

Any comments on the performance of these?

Really when you are first starting out kiting you will not notice a lot of difference between kite brands. The key for anyone starting is to spend $ and get good instruction it will save you heaps of time and you will get more out of the sport quicker. I suggest you get at least 4-5 1 hour lessons from a qualified kite instructor. Also get the instructonal videos 'How to Rip' and 'How to Rip Harder' or 'Boost 1 & 2'.

In regard to kites, I think the Cabrina CO2 has more room for growth, the Naish is a good alround kite, but generally from what I've seen it has a little less power than Cabrina kites.

Me I've been kiting for 3 seasons and have used almost every brand since my friend has a windsurfing shop. I currently ride Cabrina Black Tips 15.5, 12.2, 9.4 and 7.0. I also have a Naish 7.0m AR3.5 two line (my first kite) for when it gets above 35Knots, I'am still attached to it and find that model that was very special the aspect ratio and design was right for the size.

In summary buy what you are happy with. If you start blaming your kites for a lack of progress then change brands or get better instruction.

Go with a kite brand that has good local support, buy from a shop that actually kites and will do some kind of trade-ins and who is a major agent not someone you met on the beach who seems like a nice person. Things do go wrong and only a true Cabrina, Naish agent will be able to help you.
