Cline Street Sailboards rents, too. 361-937-5000. You can take these boards & sails with you to spots other than Bird Island. I don't think his selection of gear is quite the same, but the flexibility of sailing spots can make up for it. I don't know his prices. I just called him, but he was closed, probably out kiting or something.

Thanks Hans. That is what I was looking for. Does Cline Street Sailboards have an email address?

That would be Worldwinds at Bird Island Basin. You might want to check their web page www.worldwinds.net While they won't let you take their gear to other launches, Bird is a great place to sail. Hans already covered the alternative.

Tim,

Bird is very flat and there are on-the-beach rentals (Worldwinds, www.worldwinds.net, owner: Don Jackson). They have Gaastra/F2 rentals (all boards are 2002, about 2 months old).

Cline Street offers rentals that you can take with you, but I don't know just what he (Oliver) offers for rentals. If you are a Gorge sailor, you are probably going to want to sail the Bay over BIB, which is *very* flat. There are a variety of launches on the bay, some with decent chop.

If you are looking for flat water speed, BIB will be good for that, though. It's about a 45 minute drive from downtown Corpus Christi.
