Hi NG
I am very keen to get into kite surfing after watching some guys having a great time on the ocean.
After enquiring about the price etc, I realised that it is quite expensive. Is there anyone who can supply me with a design that I can use to make my own kite to do some surfing. Something as simple as possible.
Thanks
Howard Theunissen

I went that route last year. Didn't spend too much money but also realised that I was spending way too much time building kites and not enough time using them. Also can't resell homebuilt kites. It's really not saving you much money and chances are good they will fly like crap and you'll have a very frustrating time trying to learn.
Best way to get into it is keeping your eyes peeled for a used kite at a good price. Get a Naish or Wipi from last year and you can still get some money back in case you want to upgrade after some time.
I now use a Naish AR5 11.5 in the same windrange I used my two homebuilt kites last year. I bought the 11.5 for $750 in Germany on closeout and spent about $400 on materials for the 2 kites I made. The homebuilt kites are worthless, the 11.5 would easily sell for $650 right now.
Cheers,
