Hello All,
I just bought 2000 Starboard GO and need an advice on choosing sails for 10-25 mph conditions.
I am a beginner with some longboard experience, and this summer plan to learn footstaps and waterstart.
I am about 200 lb, 6'3' (92 kg, 190 cm).
My biggest sail right now is 6.3 North Volcano. It looks like I will need at least two sails in 7 to 9.5 range for 10-25 mph.
I know that Sailworks Retro is the most popular sail for this board.
What other brands/models will be good?
Thanks a lot,

Andy,
The key to the wind range you mentioned is to have a good low-end power sail. One reason the Retros are so popular for the wide early planing boards is they have a great low-end and because they are tuneable, you can use more outhaul and downhaul to carry the same sail into higher winds. Rangy is the right word.
So, if you cannot find a retro to buy, look for something with a stable deep section down low, but test it by putting on more downhaul and seeing if the leech flops loose easily. The last thing you want is a hooked head area or a tight leach when the wind comes up. Most modern new sail will have well behaved leech and twist, but some do not have as much low-end punch.
