Kitesurfing in Oktober / Caribic

Hi,

my boyfriend started with Kitesurfing this summer. He has not too much experiences. We would like to go to the caribic in mid-oktober for two weeks. Which islands we could go? We heard that the Isla Margarita doesn't look so carribean and that Cabarete ist too touristic, so these two are out of the question. Two island we have in mind: Guadeloupe and Tobago (but we are allways open for new suggestions). The question is, if there is the 'right' wind for a beginner and for me to do something else like snorkeling, boat trips, hiking, riding.... I fear island like Barbados or St. Lucia are too expensive for us.

Eli Fuller has a GREAT school in Antigua. I also know they kite surf in DR. There is kiting in Bonaire now too but no school or lessons. Many places are limiting where and when kiters can go out..so do check.

Hi Petra, go to Cabarete. Good place to kite (kitebeach for beginners) and many things to do for you too. Prices still reasonable. A lot of fun. Mid oktober it's not the best for Caraibic holydays. It's very close to the rain season. Ciao Carlo

yes we know that october is not the best time for the Caribic, but we have only time in october and november and in traveloffices we checked that in november it is much more expensive then in october Another reason why we are not sure with Cabaret is, that we heard that it is too touristic. If I interprete your email-Adresse right, you are from Italy, so maybe you know El Arenal on Mallorca (in german we call it 'Ballermann'. We heard that Cabarete is like this one, and we don't like this kind of location. But maybe this is not true and you can tell us better things over Cabarete.

P.S. Ti ricordi? In gennaio mi hai mandato un ottimo panorama sugli spots a Caorle e Jesolo. Nel frattempo ... ho imparato! Sono andato tutti i w.e. in primavera a Volano, che per me è ancora più vicino, e sicuramente ci tornerò quest'autunno appena tolgono gli ombrelloni ... In Agosto sono uscito sul Garda, bestiale, ha fatto pelèr tutti i giorni e spesso abbiamo dovuto aspettare che calasse un po'. saluti, Bruno
