Hello, it really went off at sherman island Sunday. I was windsurfing and saw a kiter far out from shore with his kite in the water , the wind came up very strong and he was over powered. He was being drug under the water even with a life jacket. The kiter swallowed copious amounts of water. He was in trouble. I stopped for him to hang on to my board.
So another windsurfed see two people in the water and does not see the kite down. He full speed ahead hits the kite lines and gets launched bit time. Kite lines destroyed.
So on the beach, kiter attitude was inconsiderate windsurfer should have seen the kite down, and not run over the lines. indsurfer who crashed said why did we not wave. Well the kiter almost drowned, and I was to busy making shure he did not drown.
The kiter/windsurfer dilemma????????

One of the risks both we and kites take out there is collisions with our gear. The whole rider/string/kite assemblage make bigger targets, but their lines are invisible, as a fact of life. People

The Kiter should spend more time thanking you and less time being upset at the windsurfer as I'm sure the windsurfer did not see the lines. Most of the people I know who are kiters are also windsurfers. Here at Washoe Lake Nevada I got blown off the lake on sunday on a 4.5.....................literally unsailable, and the people on 3.5 did not look like they were having much fun.
