I am a newbie at kite boarding. I am just wondering about leg leashes. I have been told not to have one due to possibility of injury from the board hitting you, but it seems that all i will be doing for a while is chasing my board around. Also, the instructors on the video boost have leg leashes. Any thoughs would be appreciated.

Cheers

Hi Jaye, I'm a relative newbie and I've done the 'chasing my board' thing. Frankly, I'm over it. So, when I get back in the water (I've been off for a while due to sickness) I'll be using a board leash. I'm already wearing a pfd (rating 3) and I'll be using a helmet (a Gath hat). That way, if I *do* happen to get hit with the board, I'll have some protection. I only intend to use the leash until I'm up and going confidently though.....I'll be tossing it after that.

One of the things that helped me to do a lot of learning was bodydragging to my board AFTER falling. Hope this helps.
