I'm thinking about buying a used 99 mistral flow 266 since there is a bargain on one, has any of you tried this board, is it as good as the magazine reviews make it sound ? I´ve only moved down to shortboards so would this be a good board for me ? Thanks for any input on this one

The Flow series are terrific first time shortboard if you are not too rough in your landings. The durability was problematic on these boards, to say the least, and none I've seen have held together. Delamination is a common problem. But as a fun board to sail it certainly is versatile, speedy and pretty cool looking in its green jacket!

I am selling a 266 Custom flow from 2000. After 2 seasons on the board is still very stiff and the seamless construction used on the Custom ones was quite durable (but note that the 00 had a double layer of divencell on the bottom where the 99 only had one layer). The shape is really quite nice, board works well in a lot of conditions and is very easy to ride. I demod almost every North Sports board that size before I bought this one and there is a significant difference in the feel of the ride between the standard (green or white) construction and the Custom (blue) construction - not sure which one you are considering...

I have a 99 Flow 266 and i am very satisfied with it so far. I heard that there were some delamination problems with some but i think mostly were 276 boards.

I use it with 4.7, 5.3 and 6.1. The fin that comes with it is not very good and it is too small.

And i don't intend to sell mine soon .....

IF you are in the USA, it seems the site below is selling one 2000 MISTRAL FLOW 276 for Us$599. I don't know if they have the 266.

Good luck.

the 2000 276 (100 ltr) was my first shortboard, and, aparted from a small, baseball sized soft spot in from of the mast track, i've been pleased with it. the soft spot was a bummer, but but didn't break the skin, so hasn't affected performance.

as to durability, i've bashed it around plenty and it's still holding up alright. i have repair many small dings, mostly in the nose.

it sails wonderfully, from 6.6 to 4.5, but when the wind picks up above 24 or 25 knts, you'll want to switch to something smaller, maybe 80 ltrs, as the 100 ltr flow sits a bit too high in the water for higher winds.

when the winds are light, i'll put on a 6.6 and a pointer fin, then drop to smaller fins and sails as conditions improve.

Hello, I had owned a 276 Flow (Classic 103lt) and used to hammer on it with a 7.5 and a 38cm fin. Awesome board, extremely hardy (read 'bulletproof' and fast. The only down side was that it was heavy. Happy Sailing,
