I use an extendo 40cm for my 9.6 aerotech but with a standard 520 mast. , I bought it so that I could have multiple sails rigged with the current extensions I use. It works great and no complaints, I am sure that you always give up some performance by not using the recommended mast.

Thanks Brett. Two more question, please:

How much of your extensions can be fitted inside the Extendo?. Being 40cm long and with some of this reserved for the ferrule, how much room is left inside the Extendo for the unused part of the extension?

What effects have you found on the recommended settings (luff and boom length) using a softer than recommended mast?

You're a braver man than I am. At what point will excessive extention cause the mast to break.. or is this just a silly fear of mine?
