I go back from a week of snow skiing around Salt Lake City. When I heard about the avalanche problems I got on the rec.ski.alpine NG to get the real scoop. Man, we windsurfers treat each other with so much more civility and respect. I don't remember any of our more heated discussions (regardless of the topic) being as bad as those. It appears that some of those folks must be at their computer all day for the SOLE purpose of flaming people. I woudl think all that flaming would increase global warming and melt all the snow...

Sorry for the somewhat off topic post.

let's see now we are known to wear little rubber shoes with tiny suction cups. we have no ski lifts to return us to where we started if we screw up; god we have to swim/paddle back if we do. we have told the entire world of our need to wear rubber as well as a diaper with a hook attached to it. in an age where extreme sports have a learning curve equal to the lifespan of a hockey puck in the sahara, is it any wonder we don't have time to flame and squabble. i know i don't. god bless the lot of ya ray in toronto

What is this about? Do you wish to share? Seems like a risky time to be considering quitting, what with the new baby (Sprinter) on the way, hmm? Sounds like the boss doesn't want you to travel around, taking time off?

BTW, are you coming to the US Open/Nationals? If so, are you driving the

Hi Hans, I've been in the same job for close to 30 years (which is odd considering that I'm *only* 29...)(well, okay, I've been 29 several times now) and sooner or later, burnout sets in. I think it set in a while ago, but I was in denial. As for the boss, he has his perfectly legitimate agenda. He's been the boss for 3 years. This is a university, and faculty often have different views of what life is about, what with grants, teaching, research, students, etc. I'm not sure he even knows what I do on the job. So, life moves on and maybe so do I. Man, you had me really worried there when you mentioned a baby on the way! Talk about your basic Hot Flash! Whoa. That was a good one!!! Who needs coffee after a jolt like that? 8-) But thank heaven the gestation period for the Sprinter is a whole lot shorter cuz it is a whole lot bigger than your average baby. It had its trailer hitch put on this morning. They are making me several duplicate keys suitable for wearing on the water, as opposed to the nifty switchblade type that comes with it. This dealer does every little detail you ask. But that baby is paid for the day I drive off the lot. I have been saving for this big event, and selling the old van, so I, personally, will own this van. I'll be at the US Open/Nationals, but not in the Sprinter. Mom's Pride and Joy will have to stay home for that trip. Ellen
