I agree. The only thing that bothered me when I purchased the gear insurance at Vela in Aruba is that if I were to have destroyed the equipment, I would have had to pay for it there, and get reimbursed at a later date (which, I was told, could be weeks to months later). I guess that's still better than having to cover the cost myself, but still, you'd think that if you give them cash to cover accidents, you shouldn't have to give them more cash if an accident does occur.

WHat about posting your trip details here in rec.ws. Maybe someone else would be willing / able to take over your trip so you wouldn't have lost the total value (probably have to sell it off cheap to convince someone to go at the very last minute).
