I am looking at getting a used Wind Obsession board. Does any one know some information about this company? The particular board is an 8'10', 52 cm wide and 98 litres...I have yet to see it but it has a tuttle box and I was told it was a few years old. My specific questions are:

Are these boards usually durable? Any construction troubles that are common with Wind Obsession boards? and finally, When were tuttle boxes first used? I just would like to know how old this board really is.

Any information would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Benoit makes very durable boards.....http://www.wind-machine.com/wind.htm I have ridden several of the ones that Margaret and Olaf have. Very nice construction... Most custom guys take great pride in their handiwork and are becoming a rare breed. The wave boards are not as wavey as I like, but great B&J. Usually with a custom , the date is written on the board somewhere. The Tuttle box isn't going to date the board. The age of the board has more to do with hours of use, than chronology.

Benoit is one of the nicest dedicated guys you would ever want to know. He will do anything to make a customer happy. Like wardog said these kind of guys are to be cherished. It ain't for the money. He works out of Quebec so i'm sure you can call him yourself. The store wind machine is no longer operating in toronto. 'and another one bites the dust.' ray in toronto

He builds a fixed suite of boards and also does customer-specific work so it might be a little difficult to tell when it was made.

They are tought boards with a stiff construction. The only 'flaw' is that going back a few years the fin box was installed flush to the top skin of the board. With only a thin skin above the box there was a possibiliy of cracking the surface if you tighten the bolts too much (or it you hit something with a fin), but that is easily fixed.

Email the company; maybe he can give you a better idea on its age.

The company website is down right now so you could always call them on the phone (450-796-3142).
